Overview

The Classification Module is a core piece of the overall system that allows automatic identification, separation and assembly of forms and disparate types of documents. Once documents are classified, they are assigned a record type which facilitates specific extraction methods for that form or type of document.

 

 

Classification within PSIcapture is comprised of a whole series of features and functions that provide the next level of seamless automation. The Classification Module is a core piece of the overall system that allows automatic identification, separation and assembly of forms and disparate types of documents. Once documents are classified, they are assigned a record type which facilitates specific extraction methods for that form or type of document. This guide will provide an overview of the theory and functions of classification within PSIcapture, as well as a basic configuration overview.

Classification in PSIcapture provides the following core functionality:

  • Classification/Identification of Forms and Documents
  • Intelligent Separation (Document Splitting) based on classified forms within the scan stream
  • Intelligent merging of document pages
  • Page count validation
  • Automatic Record Type designation
  • Data Extraction based on record type rule sets

Classification Ribbon Menu

 

The ribbon menu includes: File, Home, Settings, Security, Utilities, Window, and Help.

4.png   Choosing this enables the user to select the batch to process in the Classification Module. It is useful when returning to the module after suspending a batch.

Brings up the Close Batch dialog box. Prompts the user to select one of three options described below:

  • Close Batch - Closes the current batch. The user stays in the current Module, and the Select Batch dialog box comes up.
  • Close Batch and Continue in next Workflow step - Closes the current batch and the current module. The batch is immediately reopened in the next module of the workflow. 
  • Suspend Batch in [Current Workflow Step] - Suspends the batch in the current workflow step for processing at a later time.

NOTE: The behavior of the Close Batch dialog box is affected by the settings defined in the "Default Options: Close Batch Dialog" section of the capture profile workflow configuration. For more information, see: Capture Profile: Workflow.

6.png   Choosing this enables the user to see the current batch information (i.e., batch overrides, batch history, log lookups, etc).
7.png   Choosing this enables or disables auto processing of the current batch. Any auto processing configurations made in regards to Classification while configuring the Capture Profile will be applied.
8.png   Starts the Classification process on the batch.
9.png   Choosing this will open a popup window with the results of the Classification process. Here users will be able to see if there were any errors and what to do with those documents. This is also where users can make on-the-fly adjustments with ACE. For more information, see PSIcapture Administrator Guide: Accelerated Classification Engine (ACE).

Include Suspended Batches when Auto Processing - Choosing this enables the ability to include all batches that are currently suspended in the Classification Module to be auto processed when toggling auto process on.

 

Classification Setup... - This will open the setup window that was configured during Capture Profile Configuration>Workflow>Classification Workflow. Unless the current user setup Classification for the current Capture Profile, it is recommended that NO changes are made here. If there is something that needs to be changed please talk to the administrator.

Exit - Exits out from PSIcapture. NOTE: If a batch is currently open, the user will be prompted to close or suspend the batch.

Current Batch

This shows the name of the current batch, the date of the batch, and how many folders, documents and pages are part of the batch.

Current Batch Progress

This shows the status of the current batch being processed. Knowing this information is good in the case of an error occuring while processing.

Classification Log

This shows the log for the classification process. If the user runs into any errors, this log along with the batch status will help to narrow down the problem.

Classification Results

 

Displays the Classification results for the selected page.

NOTE: Classification test will only be displayed if the option to display it on the Page Information dialog has been enabled in Classification settings.
