Problem
When installing License Server only (no PSIcapture) on builds prior to version 5.4.1.4, you will receive the error below when trying to start services manually. Additionally, the PSIcapture installer can indicate that there are insufficient privileges to start the capture services:
Windows could not start the Capture Services service on <hostname>
Error 14001: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail
Solution
Re-run the PSIcapture installer and ensure that both PSIcapture and License Server options are selected for install. Please note that this applies to versions of PSIcapture older than 5.4.1.4. Builds since then you are able to install the License Server only without issues.
