PSIcapture Reference: How PSIcapture creates PDF files for PDF/A ISO compliance

Question:

How does PSIcapture create PDF files for PDF/A ISO compliance? What libraries does PSIcapture use to create these?

Solution:

Our PDF library is BitMiracle’s Docotic.PDF.  Any information can be found on their web site.

We provide three PDF conformance levels, one of which is PDF/A-1b.  To generate such a PDF, we set Docotic.PDF’s “ProducePdfA” option to true before we call their Save function.  Per their documentation, this ensures that the saved PDF will be PDF/A-1b compliant.  See https://bitmiracle.com/pdf-library/help/create-pdfa-compatible-document.aspx for details.

PDF15 compresses object streams and requires Adobe Reader 6+.  PDF14 is “old school” PDF – no object stream compression.
