Overview
The PSIsafe DocuSign integration allows PSIsafe users to generate DocuSign envelopes. You can bundle existing PSIsafe documents into an envelope or choose to create a new document based on a pre-defined DocuSign template. PSIsafe tracks the envelope’s progress, and once the envelope is completed, you can download and file the new signed document directly through PSIsafe.
Initial Configuration & Prerequisites
DocuSign access requires installation of the PSIsafe x64 Server service and the PSIsafe OpenAPI.
For on-premise installations, the PSIsafe URI for your OpenAPI installation must be specified in Management under System > Settings > Options > Paths. For more information on configuring DocuSign for your On-Premise PSIsafe Installation as a PSIsafe Administrator, see:
PSIsafe Administrator Guide: DocuSign Configuration & Setup
After confirming that your PSIsafe Installation has all the required modules and Administrator configuration is complete, each user will need to confirm their connected User within the configuration settings, then move on to granting DocuSign the proper consent within the PSIsafe Client.
Confirm User Consent
Each PSIsafe user wishing to use DocuSign must perform a one-time “grant consent” process. In some cases, this process may have been performed by your PSIsafe Administrator during the initial configuration process linked above. Otherwise, the consent process can be done directly by selecting the Grant Consent option under the DocuSign menu:
This displays the User Consent Process dialog. Note that this dialog is also displayed if the user selects any of the other DocuSign operation within PSIsafe when consent has not yet been granted.
Press the Grant Consent button. This redirects the user to the DocuSign web application login screen. Once the user has logged into DocuSign, they are directed to a web page that allows them to grant consent:
After pressing the Accept button, the web browser will be redirected to the consent completion web page assigned to the integration.
Note that if consent has already been granted in DocuSign, the user will not see the Accept / Cancel page. They will be redirected to the consent completion web page assigned to the integration.
Close the web browser and press the Grant Complete button on the DocuSign User Consent Process dialog. All DocuSign functionality described below is now available to the user.
Sending Existing PSIsafe Documents to DocuSign
To send documents to DocuSign, highlight one or more documents within the same document tab. Select the DocuSign – Send menu item from either from the document popup menu or the Tools menu. You may also drag multiple documents to the DocuSign area on the speed bar.
Because this operation is tab-specific, these menu items are not available when displaying the “All” tab. Note that you are allowed to drag documents to the DocuSign speed bar area from the “All” tab; however, all of the selected document must be assigned to the same tab. If they are not, an error is displayed.

The Send Documents for Signature screen is displayed. If desired, you can drag and drop additional documents from the same document tab into the Selected documents grid. Removed selected documents from the list by highlighting them and pressing the keyboard’s delete key.
Provide an Envelope name for the new envelope. To speed along the envelope creation process, you have the option of selecting one of the DocuSign templates you have configured with your account.
Press the Send Draft Envelope button to generate a draft DocuSign envelope. A message box is displayed once the envelope has been created and sent to DocuSign:
Sign into your account in DocuSign to complete envelope creation and to send the envelope to recipients.
Once the envelope has been completed, use the PSIsafe DocuSign Dashboard tab to download and file the resulting document. See the “Filing an Envelope’s Completed Document” section below for details.
Generating a New Document From a DocuSign Template
DocuSign templates can also have pre-defined document images associated with them. To generate a new PSIsafe document based on a DocuSign template, press the New button in the document list’s toolbar and select the DocuSign menu item.
NOTE: Because this operation is tab-specific, this menu item is not available when displaying the “All” tab.
The Create DocuSign Document dialog screen is displayed:
Provide an Envelope name, select a template from the Available DocuSign templates list, and press the Send Draft Envelope button.

Viewing Envelope Status
To view the status of all DocuSign envelopes you have created, select the DocuSign / Envelope Status menu on the main PSIsafe screen:
This will open the DocuSign tab:
This dashboard screen displays all of the active DocuSign envelopes submitted by the user through PSIsafe. Envelopes created directly in DocuSign are not included.
Each time you open the dashboard, PSIsafe queries DocuSign to update the status of each envelope. You can perform this function manually by pressing the Refresh button.
To prevent PSIsafe from tracking one or more envelopes, check the box next to each envelope and press the Delete button. This will not remove the envelope in DocuSign – it simply marks the envelope’s entry in the PSIsafe database to prevent it from being displayed in the dashboard.
If an envelope was created from a collection of existing PSIsafe documents, press the “+” next to the envelope to expand the document view. Right-click a document to view the standard PSIsafe document data screen for the document.
Filing an Envelope’s Completed Document
Once an envelope’s status is set to “Completed”, the resulting signed document can be filed into PSIsafe. Check one or more completed envelopes and press the File button. The document for each envelope is downloaded from DocuSign to the user’s local machine, and the standard PSIsafe Filer screen is displayed. The Filer’s repository, cabinet, folder and tab are prepopulated based on the original source documents; however, you may change these settings within the Filer screen. After filing, the envelope is removed from the dashboard.
If you choose to close the Filer without filing one or more documents, the associated envelopes will be unavailable for re-filing for fifteen minutes. If you attempt to re-file them sooner, a message similar to the one below is displayed:
This is due to a restriction in the DocuSign API that prevents repetitive calls to the same envelope endpoint within a fifteen-minute span.
