PSIcapture System Requirements

See the hardware requirements for PSIcapture version 7.6 and later below.

Note that the minimum system requirements will guarantee functionality, but not optimum performance nor suitability for the required workload. The recommended system specifications represent the environment for which the PSIcapture application was intended to run. This does not exclude newer platforms, hardware, or system architecture unless otherwise noted.

If system specifications fall below the minimum requirements, the administrator may have to upgrade the system's hardware and/or software before installing and configuring PSIcapture. Having a system that is below specifications does not necessarily imply that the application will not work; however, PSIGEN cannot support a system with hardware or software that is below the minimum requirements. Please contact the Support Team for more details.

Currently Supported Operating Systems

PSIcapture 7.3 was the last version of PSIcapture that officially supports Windows 7 and Server 2008. Starting with PSIcapture 7.7 we will no longer allow the installation of any deprecated** operating systems. Use the chart below to see we currently supported operating systems for Windows Server and Windows  Professional and Enterprise editions.

PSIcapture is an On-Premise Local Area Network product solution. Any use of the product outside of this model is not supported. We do not support any type of Wide Area Network model with PSIcapture.

Use the chart below to reference our Active* and Deprecated** Operating systems.

PSIGEN Support will still assist you with any questions you have if you are running a deprecated version of Windows that is no longer supported. However, in order to upgrade to our latest General Available(GA) build of PSIsafe, PSIcapture, or any other sub-module you must be running an Active Operating System listed above.

*Currently supported operating systems by PSIGEN Software, Inc.

** These operating systems will no longer support our latest edition General Available(GA) builds. All customers running our products on these Operating Systems do so at their own risk. PSIGEN Software, Inc will not deliver any new builds or patches for these Operating Systems.

Windows NTFS Permission levels.

Users will need permission levels to all Storage locations, Automation locations, and to the following locations. PSIcapture installs a Service called Capture Services. By default, this service is granted NT Authority\SYSTEM account privileges on your system. It is highly recommended that the application be installed with Local Administrator account credentials. Please refer to our PSIcapture Installation Guide and PSIcapture Antivirus Firewall Port, Directory, and Registry Exclusions for further information

Permissions needed: Read, Write, and Modify to Drive level and all subfolders contained in these locations.

Firewall Ports Needed

Please ensure that the following ports are opened for our application to run correctly. This can be done by referencing the article PSIcapture Antivirus Firewall Port, Directory, and Registry Exclusions

Cloud Deployment in Azure

Using PSIcapture in this model is done so at the risk of the end-user. PSIcapture is an On-Premise, Local Area Network application. Any use of the product in the Cloud can encounter performance issues and needs to be thoroughly tested before being used in production environments.

Azure Resource Group model. (Two Servers running in the same Azure Resource Group)

Capture Server runs on its own server instance hosted from the same Azure resource group.

Network Stations run on their own Terminal Server, within the same Azure Resource Group, with virtualize command running in the PSIcapture shortcut.

• Installation in Terminal Services Environment
• This will allow multiple users to log into the same server instance and share the resources allocated to the Terminal Server. The end users would then RDP/ log into the Terminal Server and the experience should be similar to a LAN.
• It is important to also note that the Terminal Server would require resources that meet the minimum specifications per concurrent user
  • Terminal Server resource allocation per session:

    • 4 Cores per user static allocation.

    • 8 GB ram per user static allocation.

    • *SSD or better drive for installation and OS for both Capture Server and Network Stations.

Virtualization

Virtualization solutions should be hosted with Local Hardware within a Local Area Network. If you are deploying virtualization in a Wide Area Network this is not supported.

Notes

1. The .NET Framework is installed by the product installer if it is not already present.
2. Installation to a remote desktop environment such as Remote Desktop Services or Citrix XenApp is considered an advanced deployment and may require a Professional Services engagement.
